Why Do You Make So Many Mistakes When Learning To Dance?

One of the hardest parts when learning to dance is the beginning stages. It can be hard to keep up with routines, remember moves and just not look stupid.

However contrary to popular belief this is a common problem. When you go into a dance class for the first time most of the people will have been going for a while so naturally will seem really good. This doesn't mean you're really bad though!

There are lots of things to contend with when learning to dance. You need to follow the steps which is usually the hardest thing to begin with. And then after learning the steps you'll have to learn them in the context of the routine.

And then the routine you're learning will probably be speeded up because when you're learning the moves the teacher usually explains it a bit slower. So it is a lot to take in.

It would be like if you were at school and you were learning a new lesson on a new subject and got a test straight after the lesson. In a dance class you put all the moves you learn into a routine straight away.

It's a lot to learn which is why it is difficult to begin with. And that's before we even go into theings like the rhythm, moves that require more co-ordination and making the moves look rght.

So as a beginner your only concern should be picking up as much as you can in every lesson and not compare yourself to the others so much. You will get better with time.

In fact as you get better over time, you'll start to see new beginners crop up in the class who are stuggling as much as when you started out. And then you'll realise how far you've come and how the beginning classes are always the toughest.
